For those editors out there who have been drowning in the HDV format, barely able to comprehend the HDV workflow when filming out to 35mm film, I have found a good workflow until Apple gets their SH*T together and supports the JVC GY-HD100 camera. Please keep in mind, this workflow requires extra time for frame rate conversion (from 60p to 24p), and it also requires two external pieces of equipment:
The AJA KONA LH Capture Card
The JVC BR-HD50 HDV Deck
The step-by-step workflow is posted on the LA Final Cut Pro User Group's Forum Page (see right column for link).
Hopefully this helps out any editors ready to hang themselves after realizing they have to work with the most dreaded digital format on the planet - HDV.
